Ayman Ragab Taher
“An Egyptian novelist and short story writer, born in Abnub, Assiut, on June 23, 1973. He is a member of the Assiut Literature Club, the Egyptian Writers Union, and the Assiut Story Club.
He has published more than fifteen novels, most notably: The Drought (winner of the 2016 State Encouragement Award), The Scorpions’ Hill (2021 Bahaa Taher Award for Upper Egypt Writers), The Camelback (2021 Katara Prize for the Arabic Novel, translated into English as The Cameleers), and Al-Mashaalji (longlisted for the 2025 Arabic Booker Prize). He has also published several short story collections, including The Coffin and The Butterflies’ Album.
He has received numerous literary awards and honors both inside and outside Egypt and has participated in major cultural conferences, including the Egyptian Writers’ Conference and the Sharjah Narrative Forum. His works have been widely covered by critics in academic studies, including a master’s thesis titled The Historical Novel by Ayman Ragab Taher (Assiut University, 2024).”
