Ahmed Salah Sabeek

“Ahmed Salah Sabeek is a novelist, illustrator, and designer. Born in Cairo in 1981, he graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University in 2003. He has worked in several Egyptian and international design studios in Cairo, Budapest, and London, and currently runs his own business in the United Kingdom, where he lives with his family.

In 2012, his first novel, “”Nimrod,”” was published. In 2014, the novel was shortlisted for the eighth cycle of the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (the “”Booker””), where the 2014 judging panel and members of the prize’s board of trustees nominated him among a number of promising writers from across the Arab world.

That same year, Ahmed Salah Sabeek presented a section of his novel “”Valley of Ashes”” at the prestigious International Prize for Arabic Fiction symposium, held annually in Abu Dhabi. At the time, the novel was still in progress. The novel was discussed by Egyptian novelist Bahaa Taher, Moroccan novelist and critic Zahour Karam, and Jordanian-Palestinian novelist and poet Ibrahim Nasrallah, in the presence of a number of young Arab novelists, poets and critics from Egypt, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Oman.”
