“Ahmed Salah El Mahdi is an Egyptian writer, translator, and critic. He graduated from the Arabic Language Department of the Faculty of Arts at Cairo University. He has published several fantasy and science fiction novels, two of which have been translated into English—””Reem”” and “”Malaaz: City of Resurrection.”” “”Malaaz: City of Resurrection”” has also been translated into Italian.
He has published several short stories and literary and critical articles in both Arabic and English, some of which have been translated into other languages, including Romanian and Spanish. He won the Egyptian Science Fiction Literature Association Award for Best Short Story.
He has translated several important international novels, most notably the Al-Qaeda series by Isaac Asimov, considered among the most important works in science fiction, and the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan, considered among the most important works in fantasy literature.”
