Kayan

Said Abdul Rahman Abu Ali is a Palestinian Professor, politician, and diplomat, born in 1955 in the city of Jenin. Throughout his career, he has seamlessly combined academic excellence with high-level political and diplomatic responsibilities, establishing himself as a prominent legal and political figure in Palestine and the Arab world.

Academic Background
He pursued his higher education in Tunisia and France, earning a State Doctorate in Political Science from the University of Tunis in 1995 and a PhD in International Organizations from the University of Toulouse, France, in 1992. He also holds a Master’s degree in Political Science and a diploma in the Management of State Institutions from Harvard University.

Political and Diplomatic Career
Dr. Abu Ali has held several senior leadership positions within the Palestinian National Authority, most notably:

Governor of Nablus and subsequently Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh.

Minister of Interior (2009–2014).

Diplomatic Advisor in Tunisia and Director General of Political and Media Affairs in the Office of the President.

Since 2015, he has served as the Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Palestine and Occupied Arab Territories Sector at the League of Arab States. In this role, he plays a pivotal part in supporting the Palestinian cause and addressing settlement policies, particularly in Jerusalem.

Academic Contributions and Research
Alongside his political journey, he continues his academic work as a Professor of Public Law and Political Science at several Palestinian universities. He has supervised numerous university theses and served as a certified scientific arbitrator for the Palestinian Ministries of Higher Education and Justice.
