“An Egyptian novelist, short story writer, and translator, born in Cairo in 1978, he works as an architect and holds a master’s degree in business administration and interior architecture. He co-founded Diwan Publishing House and the “”Naguib Mahfouz Project,”” and launched the podcast “”In Diwan”” about the creative economy and successful experiences in the creative industries.

He won the Sheikh Zayed Book Award for Best Author for his novel “”Summer Rains”” in 2018, the Egyptian General Book Organization’s Best Novel Award for his novel “”A Final Call for Passengers”” in 2019, and the Katara Prize for Arabic Fiction for his novel “”The Heirs of Al-Sheikh”” in 2021.
